Fairfield University Accelerated Nursing Program Overview

Students in the Fairfield University accelerated nursing program will complete 60 nursing credits during the 15 month period. The competitive program begins in June and finishes at the end of August of the following year. Limited enrollment allows for greater interaction between students and faculty.

Students succeed in this fast–paced program because of their prior knowledge and training obtained with their first bachelor’s degree program. The first semester will consist of basic courses; courses will gradually Increase in difficulty to the most advanced courses at the bachelor’s level in nursing.

Specific courses will include health care systems, professional nursing, geriatric nursing, pathophysiology, pharmacology, mental health nursing, research, illness patterns and leadership.

Requirements for the Fairfield University Accelerated Nursing Program

Acceptance into the Fairfield University accelerated nursing program is highly competitive because of the limited number of openings. Applicants must meet all requirements and submit the program application with all supporting documents no later than November 1.

Applicants need a professional resume, an admissions essay, have two academic references and all transcripts from previous undergraduate courses to verify prerequisites. Students are required to have a minimum GPA of 3.0; students must complete all required science courses.

A total of 22 credit hours are needed in sciences and math must be completed prior to submitting the program application. The university suggests students applying to the program make an appointment with an advisor in the program before submitting their application.
